HEALTHCARE ADVOCATE, HEALER, AND ARTIST NANCY NETHERLAND
The Notable Woman is proud to present the Super U Summit, 30 empowering women speakers over 10 days.
In this Super U Summit Talk, healthcare advocate Nancy Netherland explores ways to find wellness and laughter in the unexpected worst of times.
Nancy is a healthcare advocate and a mom-ologist with on-the-mom training in infectious disease, hepatology, rheumatology, gastrointestinology, and glitterology. She is also a healer and an artist.
She is the mama to two kids 10 and 12 living with rare and incurable diseases. Nancy sits on the State of California’s Children’s Health Advisory Panel for Medicaid, the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Chronic Illness Clinic Advisory Council, serves as an ambassador for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and is getting certified as a Health Coach through the Duke School of Integrative Medicine’s Health Coaching and the Center for Mind Body Medicine’s certification programs so she can extend the reach of this work. She wants all families who live with a chronic and life-limiting pediatric illness to have access to wellness resources.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE TALK TOPIC
From Nancy: This talk is an invitation to explore ways to experience post-traumatic growth and to find wellness and laughter in the worst of times. In less than a year – I lost my husband, my 4 year old’s liver began to fail, and my 3 year old was diagnosed with what was later discovered to be a very rare, chronic, incurable, life-limiting and potentially lethal illness. 80% of us (probably more) are exposed to traumatic events or experiences during our lives and yet few resources exist to navigate these experiences from the perspective of wellness. I set out to mindfully navigate the unexpected, and even tragic, while embracing magic, joy, and resiliency.
