TNW35: Starting a Creative Business with Lizzi Mae Rappa

TNW35: Starting a Creative Business with Lizzi Mae Rappa

In this episode of The Notable Woman Podcast, I talk with Lizzi Mae Rappa about starting a creative business with her husband.

Our guess for today is one of my favorite people on this planet, Elizabeth Rappa! She’s a fine artist who used her talent for teaching and launching her own creative business which is a huge success! She also owns and manages Forgotten Cotton, an awesome accessory and jewelry shop together with her husband, Johnny.

Today, Lizzi shares her story about how she used her interest and talents for the arts as a channel to create her own creative business. Her business is proof that you don’t need to have millions of dollars and be the best at everything to start a business. A lot of us think that we need to have this amount of cash to start a business but Lizzi is here to prove you wrong. As long as you have a unique idea, you’re good to go!

IN THIS EPISODE, I EXPLORE:
  • When Lizzi first started getting into the arts
  • How Lizzi’s mom fostered the inner creative within her
  • Why Lizzi made the switch and went into a teaching program
  • How she met Johnny her husband and how Forgotten Cotton was created
  • How Lizzi works together with her husband
  • Helpful business tips and advice from Lizzi

TNW33: Be Soul Driven and Profitable with Coach Tash Corbin

In this episode of The Notable Woman Podcast, I interview heart centered entrepreneur and coach Tash Corbin about how to be soul driven and profitable.

It was a delight to interview Tash Corbin, who is usually doing the interviewing herself over at The Heart Centered Business Podcast. And heart centered she is! Tash is an amazing coach and entrepreneur who helps women achieve profitable businesses that still align with her values. We had a great conversation, mostly around the idea that many women are trying to run businesses but not even making minimum wage. We talked about why and how to avoid it by running a lean startup.

About Cristin Downs

Cristin Downs is an alchemist, theatrical thinker, producer, educator, speaker, and podcaster. She rules her tiny roost at Pace University as the director of the continuing studies unit. She’s had a pretty eclectic career, but moments that truly defined her sense of self: becoming a strong woman leader and independent thinker at Cedar Crest College, learning arts exceptionalism at UC Irvine’s School of the Arts, experiencing first-rate business processes with the mouse at Disneyland Resort, and becoming an activist at Riverside Church. Meeting Ruby Dee, Robert Downey Jr., James Earl Jones, Ntozake Shange, and Dana Reeve were all fairly awesome moments. Cristin loves to read, the theatre, dancing in the kitchen, and her family and friends.
